How can I create a new ad group?
To create a new ad group, simply click the orange plus button at the end of the section which says “Add New Ad Group.”
What is an ad group?
Ad groups allow you to combine keywords with advertisements. These keywords will help Google learn what your advertisement is about, what you business is about, and who your advertisement should be directed to.

Keywords are crucial to launching a successful advertising campaign because they are what customers search for in Google and what Google looks for in advertisements to show customers.
Why are ad groups important?
Ad groups are important because you want each advertisement, product, and service your business provides to be represented as accurately as possible to your customers and to search engines.

Each service or type of product can fall in different categories or have a different audience search for each one. Because of that, you need to have a different set of keywords for each group of goods and services.

For example, if your business is a women’s clothing store, you would want to create different ad groups that reflect the relevant keywords used when customers search for shoes, dresses, skirts, shirts, and pajamas. These keywords should be as accurate as possible.
What is a keyword?
A keyword is a word or phrase that search engines base which advertisements and general results are displayed to a person. Google will match the keywords and other tags found within the user’s question and match that user to websites and advertisements that have the same keywords.
What are effective keywords or phrases?
Effective keywords or phrases 1) consist of 2-3 words that accurately describe your product, 2) are included in the ad text, and 3) are mentioned on the webpage the ad is redirecting the user to.
How do I know how effective my keywords or phrases are?
You can search how popular specific keywords or phrases are by entering them into the search bar under “Proposed Keywords for ….” There, you will see the keyword or phrase, the number of searches in that geographic area per month, and the average cost per click (CPC) in your currency.
How many keywords should I use?
To get started, we recommend you select between 10 and 20 keywords and then edit the list depending on their effectiveness of the advertising campaign. Try not to use keywords that are too broad or general. For example, if you sell sunglasses, the key phrase should be “buy sunglasses” instead of general “glasses.”
How can I delete a keyword from my list?
To delete a keyword from your list, simply click the “x” icon next to your keyword to remove it from your ad group.
